The Miller Open Education Mini-Grant Program is now accepting proposals for projects to be developed during the 2025/26 academic year. The mini-grants provide funding for instructors to adopt, edit, or create open educational resources (OER), free instructional materials that can be customized to meet your course’s needs.
The call for proposals for the 2025 Miller Open Education Mini-Grant Program closes at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025.
This year, to adjust for inflation and higher costs for graduate assistant support, the Miller Mini-Grant Program is offering larger stipends for grant recipients. The new award amounts are as follows:
- Level 1: Adopt and integrate OER into a course: $1,000
- Level 2: Adapt or remix existing OER: $1,500-$4,000
- Level 3: Create an original OER for a course: Up to $10,000
- Level 4: Integrate open pedagogy into a course: Up to $5,000
Please note that budgets listed as up to a specific amount will require applicants to justify all necessary expenses. To fund the largest number of high-quality projects, PIs are recommended to request only the amount of funds necessary for their specific needs.
The Miller Open Education Mini-Grant Program is co-funded by the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), the Iowa State University Library, and the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost (SVPP).
