Library partners with GIS facility for Nov. 20 GIS Day celebration

Author: Michael Cummings

GIS Day

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software is good for all things where, like recording, analyzing, and visualizing location data (think Google Earth with extra user input) without leaving home. Since 1999, GIS Day has been set aside to applaud this important technology and the practitioners, researchers, and students who use it.

Celebrate GIS Day from 9 a.m. - noon, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, in The Catalyst (Room 199), Parks Library. Iowa State University librarians and ISU Geographic Information Systems Support and Research Facility staff plan an event that will feature professional speakers from diverse fields, speaking on topics related to GIS and geospatial sciences.

Participants can join the Mapping Masterminds competition, which features three categories, prizes, and is open to everyone; click here for additional competition details. The deadline for competition entry is 11:59 p.m., Nov. 13.

GIS Day is for everyone, from the curious to the GIS pro.
